Even more shocking were the numbers of young (ages 13-29) black gay and bisexual men — the number of new HIV infections in this population jumped 48 percent from 2006-2009. In 2006, the numbers were 4,400; in 2009, the recorded new HIV infections within this same group rose to 6,500.
AID Atlanta has a "From Where I Stand" social marketing campaign about how to prevent HIV and sent out a video via email to supporters today in light of the new CDC statistics. This video focuses on black gay men.
