It Gets Better Transgender Janet Mock
Writer Janet Mock steps forward as a transgender woman and tells her story of transition as a teenager in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Though transitioning in high school was rough, Janet was awarded her school's only full-ride academic scholarship to college, and eventually moved to New York City to work as an editor for People.com.
Janet shares her story to urge transgender and LGBTQ youth to ask for help, dream big and most importantly realize that four years of high school is not their entire lives.
"You can become your dream," Janet urges. "I promise that it gets better. I can say this because I am you."
This It Gets Better video testimony was created by Janet's boyfriend Aaron Tredwell, who pushed her to live visibly.
